Each year more than 130 clients call New Beginning Recovery home while they move through their journey of recovery. The alumni of New Beginning Recovery and other clients we serve find more than their sobriety. They learn new skills, develop reliable sources of income, and create a healthy social network to support their future dreams. Conveniently located in downtown Atlanta, it houses up to 70 men. Our 16-bed program is operated out of two side-by-side homes in a residential neighborhood. We reserve up to 4 beds for individuals who are pregnant or with infants (clients care for their own child while enrolled).

Already this year we are on track to surpass these numbers, and as the need has grown, so has Loisann’s New Beginning Recovery. We recently added another home to our campus, allowing us to house 19 families in need of emergency shelter. Empowering Teen Moms

Already struggling with little support, five months into her pregnancy, Fatima lost her brother to suicide. Brittani named her baby girl Deavyne and set out to create a different life for her daughter than she had known growing up. Brittani and her boyfriend are working on their credit score so they can buy a house. She dropped out of school in 10th grade and became a mom at age 16. However, not only did Vanessa grow up in generational poverty, she also grew up in an environment that did not trust the police force and actually hated police officers.

Our CARF-accredited residential treatment program offers men over the age of 18 a safe and structured environment and the foundational skills to establish a new design for living. New Beginning Recovery NOLA, established in April 2020, is designed to provide a safe space for women & girls to transform their lives and heal from trauma prior to, during, and post-incarceration. The New Beginning Recovery model we’ve created was developed with human services professionals and women & girls who are currently or formerly incarcerated to address their core needs.

At the time, Edith was experiencing depression while facing the economic challenges of being a teen mom. After a friend introduced her to New Beginning Recovery, Edith felt the encouragement she needed to move forward with her life and build a healthy future for herself and her son. In a year’s time, she was able to cover her expenses and begin saving for a down payment for a house. All who knew Loisann knew they had a true friend for life, and that she would be loyal and supportive, no matter what the circumstance. Loisann exemplified the ideals of New Beginning Recovery, which strives to instill hope in and provide direction for hurting, children and their families. Stephanie grew up in generational poverty, became a mom as a teenager and dropped out of school.

While there, she saw that many women who were recently released, but had nowhere to go, would often end up back in prison. Melaney vowed to focus on reentry services for the people she left behind. The LOHM’s vision aligns with her purpose to ensure women have the skills and support needed to reintegrate into society, be self-sufficient, and not be judged by their past mistakes. New Beginning Recovery’s Mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence by providing safe refuge and supportive services that educate and empower those impacted by domestic violence. Some beds are reserved for emergency housing, however, the majority are dedicated to men who are rebuilding their lives through CaringWorks’ residential treatment and transitional housing programs.
